How to prepare for a fashion photoshoot as a client?

Preparing for a fashion photoshoot as a Client involves several important steps to ensure a successful and productive work with the Photography team. Here’s a guide to help you prepare effectively:

Define Your Goals & Budget: Clearly outline the purpose of the photoshoot. Are you creating content for specific E-commerce website, your own website, social media, prints or something else? How many Models do you need? Make sure your expectations match your budget;

Concept: Find visual references that convey the desired style, aesthetics and emotions you want to capture in the photoshoot. Share this with the Photography team for better understanding;

Wardrobe: Plan and organize the outfits for the photoshoot prior. Make sure they are finished and you will not be confused in combining them between each other, trying to decide it on the spot. The reason for that is time limitations – commercial photoshoot is always a lot of work. If you have any styling ideas from your side, you can plan them too. Otherwise we can arrange a Fashion Stylist for you;

Model Selection: Select Model/ Models whose looks and vibes align with your concept. Check the models measurements and height so it won’t be a surprise for you;

Decide on the location: Decide if you want a photoshoot in our studio or an outdoor/ on location shoot. Location and, if needed, shooting permit have to be arranged prior. Anticipate potential challenges, such as weather changes for outdoor shoots. If shoot is not in our studio, provide a comfortable space for breaks to keep the team energized throughout the shoot;

Planning in advance: Don’t postpone the photoshoot until the last moment. Better to plan it in advance, so it would match with everyone’s schedule & availability, and have time left for postprocessing of images without pressure to make it quick. If the shoot requires some irregular, specific lighting setups or extra props, communicate these in advance as well;

Direction: Provide guidelines to the Makeup & Hair Artists based on the concept. Discuss any specific looks you want to achieve. Provide information about the poses and facial expressions to the Models. Discuss the styling ideas with the Fashion Stylist;

In summary, stay organized and keep communicating your ideas to the team. Clear communication and teamwork contribute to a successful outcome. By planning and organizing each aspect of the fashion shoot, you’ll ensure a smooth and productive process that results in high-quality images aligned with your vision.
